My goal is to build my reputation as a trusted company that my customers will be able to rely on. I will be offering a 24 hour locksmith service in Brighton so should you be unfortunate enough to find yourself locked out at any time I will be able to help! Being based in the centre of Brighton gives me the advantage of being able to respond to your call within a matter of 20 – 30 minutes. I will be working with a team so we should always be able to attend to your request no matter what time of day.

Having worked in this industry for 10 years, I have gained knowledge on how to protect you, your family and your property from thief’s or intruders. I have almost learnt how to ‘think like a thief’ when it comes to security. One thing I know is that the most effective way to deter unwanted visitors is to make it as difficult as possible for them to gain entry.

There are 2 simple reasons for this – NOISE and TIME – If burglar is trying to break in to your house but he is making a lot of noise in the process and also it is taking him a long time, he is increasing his chances of being caught by a neighbour or passer-by.

Here are a few tips on how to increase your security at home;

  • Your front and back doors should be fitted with at least a 5 lever mortice deadlock. This should also be a British standard BS: 3621. The way you can tell if yours is British Standard or not is by the Kite Mark – <3 (looks like a small love heart) that should be displayed on the faceplate of the lock. (this is located on the edge of the door above the bolt) Your insurance company will often request this or give you more credits if you have a British Standard Deadlock.
  • Your front door would also benefit from having a double locking night latch this is like your simple Yale lock but it has a function that prevents people from ‘slipping’ or ‘jimmying’ the latch with a credit card or piece of plastic. For more advice on this please give us a call.
  • Additional bolts can also be fitted to your door so when you are inside you can slide the bolts across before you go to bed, this just gives you that extra piece of mind.
  • If you have a UPVC door you should also have a British standard Euro profile cylinder fitted. These will not be 5 lever but may be 6 pin. Again, look out for the British Standard kite mark.
  • Your windows if UPVC will usually be fitted with adequate locks but if you have wooden sash windows you should invest in some ‘sash stoppers’ a simple window lock that prevents people from forcing the window open.
  • If you are serious about your security, the next step would be install CCTV cameras or intruder alarms. We can also offer you this service.
  • If you have a safe at home. Make sure it is of decent security and is bolted to the floor or wall or both.

I hope that has given you some practical advice. If you would like any more advice or you would like me to carry out a security inspection of your home, just get in touch and we can make an appointment.
